I know i know, its been a while! The good news is that my lack of posting is not due to lack of crafting - more to do with lack of time.

Every year just before christmas when my list of christmas sewing is still WAAAAAy longer than it should be, i swear i will start my christmas sewing earlier (like in January perhaps?!) but alas here i am with 2 weeks till Christmas and still with presents to sew.

So this is a little of what has been happening:

1. Hen's night invites
2. Wedding invites - it is Wedding season!
3. A framed gift for one of my best ladies..
4. A lamp and bunting set for a special little one year old!
5. A lamp/bag set as a christmas gift.

....and thats only one ones i actually remembered to take photos of!

Manged to squeeze in a little project for the littlest miss - couldn't go past this pattern for ruffled bloomers!

I found the leg holes tough to get right, but practice makes perfect i guess!

Sitting down tonight to thread in the elastic and cut out some pieces out to sew, sew, sew tomorrow!

the warmer weather is well and truly here in sunny Queensland and you know what that means: spring sewing! With summer fast approaching and kindy on the horizon for little miss, i have decided to join the sew-a-long kids clothing week challenge going on at Elsie Marley..

So you basically just commit to sewing a hour a day of clothing for the kids. My almost-four-year-old has very definite ideas about what she wants to wear and im always hard pressed to get her in anything but skirts and dresses, so this is what i am aiming at.

We took ourselves off to the fabric shop today so she could choose her own fabric and after a little negotiation (hot pink sequins anyone?!) this is what she picked...

So with the kiddies tucked up in bed, im sitting down to sew for an hour..... or two!

Yet another week flown by and still only managing to blog - just where does the time go?

just sneaking in with my creative space this week...

A certain little miss is having a birthday next week, so i have been working on some little projects as party favors instead of the traditional 'party bags'

and what more could little girls want than their own pint sized sparkly mermaiden?!

These little ones will be finding new homes with our party guests! The pattern is from this sweet book which is a little gem - definitely a must have for any avid softie makers! Now to make something for the boys...

My Creative Space.....

Its been a few weeks since i played along with this - school holidays seem to be keeping us busy here! But i managed to sneak this one in...

Well im pleased to report that my first market was a great success - a great night was had by all, i met some wonderful stall holders who were a wealth of knowledge, so hopefully i'll be booking in some market dates before christmas. i managed to snap a few piccies before the crowd rolled in

My creative space this week is minus my sewing machine which is off having a major service, so i've turned my attention to finishing some half done non-sewing related projects i have lying around - i know you all have some of THEM!

Im finishing off this crocheted blanket for little miss's cot - only two more rows and the edging to go! please excuse all the stray threads, it's still a WIP!

Also found this tutorial for a crocheted bodice on a little dress

I'm not great at following patterns so i free styled it a little with the arm straps but i think it turned out ok. Now to find some material to match for the skirt section....

Wow, has it really been so long since i was here? You forget how much time a newborn takes up - and how fast the time flies! Can you believe she is 11 weeks already?!!

Neither can she!

busy busy here getting ready for my first ever market - Don't ask me what i was thinking booking myself in for a market just 3 months after having bub.

Never the less, i have been sewing, sewing, sewing every chance i get so in my creative space this week im embarrassed to say that this is the state of my craft desk...

I've never been much good at sticking to just one project at a time so in the midst of making headbands, hairclips, earrings and various other bits for the market i also decided to start a crocheted cot blanket for the little one - so sitting in front of the TV of a night i am working on making 30 of these...

But the major project i am undertaking today is finishing off these super chic clutches for the market

sorry i've been MIA for the last few weeks, we've been busy with this little one...

i finally managed to get out the sewing machine this week and get started on some new clutches

My handmade heaven space is in desperate need of a restock and i have some markets on the horizon that i am stock piling for - the opportunities to sew are few and far between at the moment so im making the most of my sewing time!

CHA Swap

So i signed up for the CHA Swap a while ago, thinking that i had plenty on time to make my swap item to be posted by the 30th of June. Well baby Kate put a dampener on those plans, so i cracked out the sewing machine on the weekend to finally make my swap item!

Nothing like an impending deadline to make me pull my finger out! I drew my own pattern for this one and wasn't sure how it would turn out (i really need to stop doing that!). Thankfully it worked out - i just hope my swap partner loves it! I will do the reveal when all is received so as not to ruin the surprise.

On another swap note i want to sing to praises of this lovely lady who sent me the most DARLING brooch in the brooch swap

Apologies for the break in transmission - and i was on such a roll to with my crafty projects too, but this time i do have a good excuse!

It seems that our newest little poppet couldn't wait any longer to join us on the outside world.

It's A Girl!!

Our newest baby girl joined us on 4.6.2011 at 3am weighing 3kg

Introducing.....

She caught us by surprise arriving 3 and 1/2 weeks early but is happy and healthy.

After a week in hospital with some complications we are happy to be home, getting to know each other and enjoy some rest and recovery.

We're still in a bit of a baby bubble with the cycle of feeding, sleeping and nappy changes. Thankfully Mr JK is home to do the school drop offs, washing, cooking, running around and general liaising duties with the outside world !

But we're all rather smitten, can't you tell?!

and with a little face like this how could you not be? (a biased mum perhaps?!)

Looking forward to being back with some crafty projects soon - i already have some super cute baby girl project im itching to get stuck into!

My Creative Space.....

Just playing around in my creative space this week. It was my birthday on Tuesday and i was super spoilt and excited to get this new baby - a bit of a step up from the old compact point and shoot (though i did serve me well!)

And after bubs in born i have been booked into a photography course as the other part of my pressie! EEEK can't wait!! Look out, now i have this NO ONE is safe and the kids will be the ones to have 100 thousand piccies taken of them - and just wait till bubs is here! I'll have baby photos coming out of my ears.

But for now its just a bit of crafting going on. I ordered these delicious new fabrics to make some baby stuff, namely the all important nappy bag.

so here is a little sneaky peek at it which i am working on....

A bit of a dreary old day here, the sort of weather to pull the ugg boots on and get some serious craftiness on!

Instead i have coughing, wheezing, runny noses and little ones home sick so whether i get to this is another story. But if i do get a chance, I'm back in nesting mode which means organising the kids room - trying to decorate a boy/girl shared room has proved quite a challenge. Fortunately the room is big enough to do a 'his' and 'hers' side.

My Creative Space..... and a celebration

In go slow mode with my creative space this week - feeling all the aches and pains of the last 7 weeks of pregnancy. Though on the whole, it has gone fast and i am fast running out of time to finish my baby sewing - still some swaddles, a special 1st softie and that all important nappy bag to make!

I managed some sewing time earlier this week and made a start on these clutches, so today im just doing the last hand sewing and finishing touches on these. Don't forget to visit Kirsty for more creative spaces.

Some are for the shop, the others will make up some Mother's Day gifts....

In some exciting news, i have almost reached a milestone here on my little blog -

Well the Easter break is over and its back to reality - back to school drop offs, bookwork, swimming, soccer, never-ending housework and LOTS and LOTS of camp washing. We had a wonderful break, the Easter bunny managed to find us in the middle of the bush! This is the view front our tent....

It was so beautifully relaxing and quiet out in the country, that it has us dreaming of escaping the suburban lifestyle for a tree-change to the country. Swap the city lights for green pastures, animals and country breeze? It's something that we've discussed but would we ever actually be brave enough to do? I don't know.... I'd love to hear your experiences

Anyway, I'm easing back into my creative space today and finishing off the last of these coffee cozies for the Mother's Day stall for school. Shop is open for business again here

Super Easy Easter Bunny Badge Tutorial

With easter holidays almost upon us i have been working on some little Easter gifts for Mister's school classmates and teacher. We all know how much chocolate kids get at Easter, so i wanted to do something 'non-chocolatey'. Easter bunny badges it is!

So here is a super easy tutorial for Easter Bunny badges - great for cute and inexpensive gifts or a great Easter activity to keep the kids occupied over the holidays...

So start with these materials:

Patterned cardstock of your choice
Plain cardstock
Craft glue
Brooch backings (cheap from spotlight)
A packet of small pom poms (i got mine from the cheap shop)
Bunny template (this one i got from an old BHG magazine issue)

Print out the template to the desired size, trace on to the back of the patterned paper and cardstock and cut out so you have two identical bunnies.

Then take the plain bunny (this is for the back of the badge), lay out the brooch backing and mark where you want the holes to be.

punch out the holes where you marked them

this is what you should have now - two bunnies, one patterned and one plain with holes for the brooch backing to go through.

now take to patterned bunny and glue a pom pom to the bottom of the bunny (tail)

with the plain bunny, push through each end of the brooch backing and clip it up.

Now just take the back piece and cover the back side of it with glue

Glue it to the back side of the patterned piece and let it dry.
You then have a easter bunny badge!

You then just need to find a willing model to show it off.....

times by 25 and you have cute easter gifts for the kids or bust out the glitter and felt and let the kids decorate their own!

finishing off the last lonesome little bunny who needed a last minute fix-up....

Off to lunch with my ladies on Sunday so im sewing up these

Which will be one of these fabric covered notebooks as part of some birthday gifts.... just hoping they don't check in here before then! :)

and finally if the little miss sleeps for long enough i'm hoping to finish off these coffee cozies for the Mother's Day stall at school, which have been sitting on the craft desk begging to be stitched closed and given a good iron.

A little ambitious perhaps to get all that done?? perhaps, but you have to try!

Been busy this week making and packing a large card order for my new and first interstate stockists Lush Creations.

I am so excited to be working with Amy so if you get a chance, head on over to their site and have a look around or if you live locally to Hilton, WA pop into their shop!

On a different note, it must be getting ready for wedding season because i now have three clients all getting married on the same day! i can't even tell you how long it has been since i cracked out the guillotine and filled the studio with lots of yummy colourful paper scraps - way to long. With card stocks dwindling im trying to do a few nights a week in the studio cranking out some new cards. Trying to stock up before i get too pregnant to want to move (only 14 weeks to go people!). Already got the serious baby belly thing going on - the muscles aren't quite as strong by number 3! And still driving the hubby nuts by asking him to move half the furniture in the house around for me..... hehe

So anyway, in my space today im playing with some lovely girlie prints like these....

Friday Goodies...

I was up with the birds this morning with a list a mile long of things to do before i had to leave the house. Little Miss and i planned on heading up to Handmade Heaven for a visit and to re-stock my little space. Though i knew that i had a do some photographing of my new clutches in order to finally re-list some goodies in the made-it shop before we left. And for me this can be quite a process! I do struggle to take pics that i am happy with, especially for my shop. I never feel like the pictures do them justice....

BUT who knew that 6am light can be so complimentary?!! and with minimal editing too! I think this is how i will take my photos from now on!

Time permitting, these will be in the shop in the next few days....

I did have a little browse around while visiting Liesa and came across these delightful notepads from Journal Addiction which somehow jumped into my shopping basket.

Have i ever mentioned that i have a slight stationary addiction??! Mr JK just shakes his head now - but he lets me keep them :)

(and never sends me off alone to officeworks!)

My Creative Space.....

Lot of crafty goodness happening in my creative space this week.

A friend from school just had a beautiful little baby girl. After drooling over these exquisite baby shoes i wanted to attempt to make some myself Joyfolie style. So i went searching for a pattern for 'Mary-Jane' style booties and found a fabulous tutorial here.

And this is what i came up with

Maybe not exactly Joyfolie standard, though i was pleased with my first attempt. I think when i make them again i will make the straps a little thinner perhaps?

They look quite cute in this Amy Bulter fabric, I hope she likes them!

So today im working on a burping cloth/bib in co-ordinating fabric to make a little gift set. Then it's off for coffee with the ladies tomorrow for a chin wag and lots of baby cuddles (HA, cluckie much?!)....

In other projects i sat up to the wee hours of the morning (the only spare time i get at the moment!) the other night cutting and ironing and then sewing up a heap of new clutches for Handmade Heaven. They have proved popular and my little space is looking a little dismal so these will be heading up to Liesa to fill my space with some more stock and a little colour...

So im working on the last little bit of hand stitching with these ones. Cluttches today, new card designs tomorrow.

Sail Away...

Well this week has disappeared into a blur of cleaning, packing, school runs and shopping, with a wee bit a crafting thrown in for good measure.

This 'nesting' thing seems to be all consuming me at the moment because i just cant stop thinking, planning, sorting and tidying!

However, we are also off for a long weekend on a house boat trip with family so hopefully in 24hrs time this will be my backyard

I am looking forward some boating, swimming, fishing and R&R as well as some enforced separation from organising the house - as i said, the nesting thing is kind of out of control!
If i send one more bag of toys or clothes to vinnies, i think my kids really will disown me.

So to finish off i just wanted to share (finally!) the finished project from my creative space a few weeks back. This cushion and bunny are (hopefully) receiving lots a warm cuddles and peaceful sleep!

My Creative Space.....

In my blog hopping this week i came across a series of posts by Megan from Mousehouse, who is tackling one home organisation project per week. Appealing to my nesting instinct perhaps??! I am not naturally a particularly organised person, so this is something i am always working on and i do try to be more organised!

So inspired by the challenge, in this weeks my creative space, i am tackling my fabric storage cupboard....

As sewers im sure we all have one of these corners of your houses that is a creative dumping ground, well this is mine!

I did come across this genius way of storing fabric so it is neat, easily accessible and you are able to see exactly what you have HERE and HERE. (Thanks to Justine for the links!)

So armed with some newly acquired comic boards i am setting to work. One thing at a time right?! Wish me luck.....

Happenings...

Has it really been that long since i was here?! I went MIA for a bit there, sorry about that!

The good news is that under Toni's Pink Umbrella, we collectively raised over $99, 000 for the QLD flood relief appeal!!!! What a superb effort!

A big thank you to all those of you who stopped by to support all of the auctions, raffles and crafty peeps that participated and congratulations to KATE who was the winner of my auction! I hope you enjoy your goodies....

Other than that, we were back to school last week with a big grade 2-er!! Really, where does the time go? No tears though, just back to business as usual, and a little one who wishes with all her heart that she was big enough to go to school too!

Though i must admit, if i don't see another piece of contact again for another year, i will be a happy lady!

We also got to put a little face to the growing baby bump at the scan.....

I always think they look a little alien-like in these 3D pictures, but from here on in, baby has been dubbed 'Turtle' after my 3 year old declared "It looks like a turtle, Mum!". The name kind of stuck and since we are yet to know whether it be blue or pink, i guess that's better than 'IT'!

Not much happening on the crafty side, that only thing i have managed to make is a sleeve for my IPAD - and that's in between fighting the kids for it!

But now with Mr. back at school i am hoping to get back into some craftyness! I have some plans brewing for some new products and already i have a few invitation orders to work on so here's a little sneaky peak...

Back soon with a new crafty project which is in the pipeline, which i would love for some of you to join in...

Many of you probably already know about the Flood disaster to hit Queensland (and now other states as well). You may also know that Toni from Make It Perfect has done an amazing job organising flood appeal auctions over many crafty blogs. Please visit her blog to see the master list of all the auctions/raffles going on and support these auctions.

The clean up has begun in force and it is so wonderful to see fellow Aussies all lend a helping hand to those who have lost so much. So at this stage, money is what is needed to help all of these people get back on their feet, and EVERY little bit helps. It feel like it is only small, but this is my contribution. You will be bidding for this Clutch and Card Set -

Flood Devastation...

The events that have unfolded in Queensland in the last 48hrs have been as devastating as they are unbelievable. In our worst natural disaster in history flood waters engulfs 75% of Queensland. My home town of Brisbane is currently heading towards river peaks that haven't been seen since the tragic 1974 floods.

i am deeply saddened and worried for many friends and family that will be directly affected with their homes being swamped with water. With Friends and family in Toowoomba, Ipswich, Goodna, Jindalee and CBD affected areas, my Grandparents house is currently underwater.

so i would ask that you all can keep in your thoughts and prayers all the people who have been affected by these devastating events.

I came across Toni's blog who is generously organising a flood relief appeal auctions with all money raised going directly to the Queensland Government Flood Relief Appeal.

2010 wrap up and some big news.....

Who can believe that another year is over - just like that! I still feel like i am i fast forward, time is just going by so fast!

Christmas festivities brought the 'BIG' man with lots of fun gifts for the kids, yummy food to indulge in, games to be played and good company to enjoy, catching up with family. I was even totally spoilt by Mr JK, who surprised me with an IPAD for Christmas - i think im hooked!! So i've spent some time uploading some fun Apps, Ebooks (of which i am through 3 books already!) and games - which the kids mastered in no time!

The time before Christmas seemed to get away from me, though i did manage to get a good amount of my gifts handmade (and subsequently forgot to take photos!) but i did manage to squeeze in a last minute Christmas dress for little Miss using the Delilah pattern:

The Christmas - new years week is always busy for us, as we have little Mr's birthday squeezed in there for good measure. Which means more get together's, indulgent food and of course pressies for him!

But he does love it of course - big 7 already!

Thankfully in amongst the rain we managed to get just about the only fine and sunny day of the week, perfect for a bit of Slip-and-Sliding!

So needless to say that by the time we get to the end of the week, the welcoming of the new years is a quiet affair! 2010 was a pretty good year for us and here is a quick wrap up of some projects i finished throughout the year:

Some of my crafty goals for 2011 including - learning to quilt and making a single bed quilt for each of the kids (I love to sew but don't actually know how to quilt), complete some of my unfinished projects that a piling up, decorate the kids room and making all gifts for this year handmade (including Christmas which i will definitely start sewing earlier!)

I'm not really one to make New Year's resolutions on account that i usually fail to stick to them! So i usually just have a few goals that i like to work towards for 2011. I am looking forward to a year full of new projects, new adventures, new memories and new beginnings. Our exciting news is that 2011 will bring the arrival of our 3rd baby in June!!!

Hence my absence around here and the lack of posts - you forget just how utterly exhausting that first trimester is! So this years projects will no doubt including a lot of baby and nursery sewing, watch this space!

Well done if you've made it this far, a big post i know. Wishing you all a fabulous new year, full of new endeavors and exciting possibilities!!

Catching up....

...On pretty much everything i'm afraid!I have no other excuse for being absent other than, like a lot of people i have been whirlwind busy with all the usual end of year events - break-up parties, christmas parties, end of year concerts and presentations.

All of these requiring baking, making of costumes, practicing of songs and speeches and sewing of christmas gifts for various special people! All of this amounts to one very neglected blog! School holidays also doesn't help with one 3 year old and one almost 7 year needing entertainment! and we have 8 weeks of it to look forwards to......

So im catching up and sharing some pics from the happenings of the past few weeks...

These went out to all the classmates of Mister.

These gorgeous brooches also arrived in the mail from super talented and lovely lady! just in time for the deer one to be added into Mister's teacher present.....

This dear little softie was finished just in time to be posted down to pip for the mirabel foundation

I also managed to make it up to handmade heaven to gather some remaining Christmas stock for some orders. I am putting the remaining stock including christmas cards, tags and yarn wreaths at 20% off to clear my christmas stock.

Is getting serious this week. After another week of struggling to find my crafting mo-jo, i am armed - with a strong tea, my christmas list (ARRRG!) and most of all a PLAN.

I have some new clutches cut out and ready to be sewn up for my rather neglected looking shop at the moment!

Im determined to forge ahead with my christmas sewing with some PJ's and matching bunny sets for nieces and family friends. and next on the list is teacher thank you gifts as there is little more than a week until the start of the school holidays......

So im hoping to make a big dent in my to-do list today. That's the plan anyway.....

has me half-glancing in the direction of my sewing machine this week after feeling a little flat after the last minute frantic rush of the fete and market sewing.

Im happy to report that the fete was a wonderful success despite it being a SCORCHER of a day! Everyone was exhausted but happy! Ill hopefully have some pics to show soon.

I ordered some delicious new fabric while the US $ was high and it arrived sooner than expected. Nothing like some lovely new fabric to lift the spirits and get the sew-jo going!!

High US $, cheap shipping and big sales are a dangerous combination! Yes, i went a little nuts, so i'll have to put myself on a self-imposed fabric ban until further notice! Well at least i'll have some yummy fabric now to finish off my christmas sewing!

Wow, where did a week go?! At the moment it feels like the weeks are passing all too quickly.....

Due to rainy weather our school fete was postponed to this weekend which was good because it gave us a little more breathing room to get organised for the craft stall! So this week has been filled up with last minute projects, sorting out items that have been tossed in the fete box months ago. I will post some pics when i get them all sorted

But today my creative space looks like this

I am attending a baby shower on Sunday so today is filled with baby sewing - bibs, burping clothes, zippered pouches, booties, blankets, mobile & maybe a softie as well as embellishing these singlets and onsies. All to put in a nice big gift basket. Hoping to get it all done today - we'll see how THAT goes!

Two big boxes all packed up and heading off to be a part of the Handmade Heaven stall at the Christmas In The Country Market!

You can find wreaths, Christmas cards and tags, clutches, purse gift sets, brooches and hairpins amongst many other goodies from talented handmadies at the stall.

If you are in the Brisbane/Toowoomba area this weekend it is well worth the lovely drive out to gatton for this market of 60 stalls of handmade and country goodness. here are the particulars:

Princess for a Day....

This week little miss turned 3, and my how fast the time flies! You literally blink and they're growing up.

We had a small family party to mark the occasion but what sort of 3rd birthday would it be without a pretty party dress?! So we chose some fabric (PINK of course!) and i set to work .....
I was actually quite please with the outcome considering i had no pattern.

i must have done ok, because she was super excited to have a pretty dress to wear!

Complete with a 'pony cake' (again her choice). Now i am by NO means a cake decorator, i find it kind of frustrating because i can never get the icing right (it brings out my 'mely' side!)

Yet she loved it, though i suspect it wouldn't really matter what it looked like as long as there was ponies on top she was happy! A great day was had by all especially our little princess!

So i have been playing with ideas for some tutorials to put on here and i've decided to start with this dress. i drafted my own pattern and was wondering if anyone would be interested in trying it out. I will put it in a separate post if i have any takers?

Back into the swing with My Creative Space...

Back to reality with a bit of a bump this week. We had a wonderful 10 days away camping here are a few highlights of the week......

LOTS of skiing and tubing (and finding muscles i haven't used for the while!)

Kayaking and swimming....

Meeting the locals....

No crafting in sight, but i did managed to get through 2 of the 3 books i took (woohoo!)....

and nights toasting marshmallows around the camp fire....

all in all a fabulous week of R & R and quality family time.....

so its been a little hard, trying to get back into the swing of things. I've come back wondering where September has gone? so much to do, so little time! and this rainy weather is not exactly helping my sky high camp washing pile!

So its straight back into it and this is my creative space this week....

i noticed over here that santa has come super early which has given me the kick in the pants i needed to get cracking on goodies for the stocking swap.....

i ordered some supplies before we left for some birthday gifts we have coming up and a few new ideas i have rolling around in my head for the shop. so these are also making an appearance...

This time tomorrow this will be our view from our front door (ie. tent flap).....

and that will probably be our boat out on the water from dawn till dusk! (yes, Mr JK is THAT person you shake your fist at - the one who fires up the ski boat while all the other campers are still asleep trying to 'make the first ripples on the water!)

and we will be doing a heap of this....

so we're off for 10 days of camping and water skiing and adventures in the great outdoors. I'll be back on the 21st of September. Meanwhile im off to pack some BIG books i can lose myself in and maybe ill sneak in some yarn and a crochet hook........

in my creative space this week is more crafts for our school fete being held in October. My sew jo continues to evade me (my poor sewing machine is looking a little forlorn in the corner :(

so this week its paper crafting. My paper scraps drawer is OVERFLOWING so i though i might raid it and see what i could come up with to use some up ....

i always get these magnetic list makers as promo materials from our local real estate and the other day i was looking it and thought 'why not make one that is actually nice to look at?", they are handy for shopping lists, messages,notes, anything really. So this is what i came up with

They are super simple and quick to make with just basic supplies...

i was thinking of putting up a tutorial for these - would anyone be interested??

My Creative Space..... All about Dad

With fathers day fast approaching i am working away at some fathers day cards to get out in time for September 5th for all those wonderful dads out there....

In my creative space today i am loving my Craft Robo die cutting machine, which is my best ever Flea Market Find! I picked it up at a craft car boot sale about 18 months ago.

Normally i am a bit wary buying electronics second hand but this one hasn't missed a beat and i use it constantly. The software can take virtually any image trace it and cut it out on paper, cardstock or vinyl - no expensive cartridges that only have a limited number of pictures/shapes.

so this is my work in progress, ill be posting some in the shop later today (which is looking sadly empty ATM - but im working on it!)

Chenille love....

well the fete sewing continues and i just thought id post the end result of last week's my creative space.

the pattern called for chenille all over but decided to use a mix of cotton fabric and chenille just to use some different colours (and my supply of chenille is limited!) and also just trial to pattern. It was straight forward enough though i did have to get out the seam ripper when i realised that i forgot to leave an opening to stuff the arms..... whoops.

these ladies are headed off to the school fete craft stall that i've been madly sewing for .....

but i think im hooked!

i even managed to pick up a big scrap bag on ebay from this lovely lady who has the most incredible chenille collection. Thanks Selina!

Yabadabadoooooo......

apologies for the disappearing act, time seems to be getting away from me at the moment!

it seems my run of a cold-less winter is over - lots of sniffles and coughing here at the moment so my sewjo seems to be evading me...

but i did manage to complete this project for Mr JK......

now my hubby is a very practical man and is a typically get in - get what you need- get out type of shopper. Totally opposite to me who could spend hours browsing aisles (particularly in a craft shop) hence the reason he will usually opt to stay home with the kids when im headed out to the craft shop.

So no one was more surprised than me, when he came home from work one afternoon with the bulging spotlight bag filled with fabric. Even more surprised when he told me he had a 'dress-up' function to go to and asked me to make him and a good friend (whom he was going with) a costume each! Despite the fact that this was thursday, and the function was on saturday, he handing me this bulging bag full of fabric and this.......

Yes, that right they wanted to go as Barney and Fred Flinstone! They had taken themselves off to spotlight to buy some material for me to make them some costumes. Apparently the ladies who served them thought it was hilarious to see two guys (wearing glue splattered work clothes no doubt) pouring over racks and racks of material to find the right sort of material! and told them that they made a great pair for Fred and Barney!

so i set to work with only this picture as a reference....
and this was the result

i was pretty pleased with the end result! I tried to tell them that i didn't think Fred and Barney wore boardies (that hung down at the bottom) underneath though i don't think i had them convinced....

My Creative Space.....

Well there hasn't been much creating going on at JK HQ lately mainly due to that time of the year that we all love - tax time. BAS and PAYG - gotta love it!

BUT i did manage to sneak a few hours in today and i thought i would play along with my creative space. I picked this pattern up on ebay and have been itching to use it for some time! Ive picked up a few chenille bedspreads on my op shopping travels lately so im diving right in today to have a play with this....

The fete craft stall...

Well the busyness of school holidays of over and its back to business as usual for us - so i finally have been able to steal a quiet moment while miss B is taking a nap to post.....

My son went into year one this year and at the start of the year we were informed that this year is a fete year - our school only hold one every two years. It is of course the biggest fundraiser the school holds and this year our class has been assigned the craft stall!!

I am excited to be able to create all sorts of goodies to contribute. So over the last few months i have started a 'fete box' which i aim to keep filling as i get a chance to sew and do some papercraft - and lets face it, you can never start too early!!

So i wanted to share just a couple of things that are starting to fill my box....

Not an original idea, as you all probably know but i think it will be popular with mums, are these 'art wallets' with space for crayons on one side and a pad of paper on the other...

fold it up and your armed with entertaiment for the littlies....

another item for the kiddies are these superhero headbands. I found this great tutorial over on the curlypops blog and the lovely Cam had kindly allowed me to use this pattern to make some to donate.

also some bean bags (filled with rice) - the kids LOVE to throw them around - i had about 20 of them zooming around my lounge room!

and some of these heart hanging ornaments...

and of course every crafters favorite friend - pincushions (which i forgot to take photos of - sorry!)

I have several other project in various stages of construction which i will share soon

But for now i'd love to put the call out to my readers for some suggestions and/or ideas??
I am a newbie to the fete thing so i am asking anyone - if you have had experience with fete craft stalls - i am open to suggestions - What sells well? What items are popular? What would you all like to see at the fete stall?

Any suggestion would be much appreciated!

Catching up....

Well we made it through out bush camping weekend with all limbs still attached. We had a fabulous time despite the -5 degree temperature on the last night! BRRRR..... Maybe we should have rethought bush camping at Warwick in the dead of winter! LOVE being in the great outdoors though and thought id share some pics from the weekend...

Well i had a quite a few projects on the go last week that i haven't had a chance to share yet.

These invitations for a client that i managed to snap a few quick photos of before i ran out the door to deliver them...

and you might remember me mentioning the impending arrival of some sewing books that i was getting for my birthday.....

Well they arrived this week! So keen to get stuck in to them....

i even managed to squeeze in the first project from 'one yard wonders' before we went away.

I have been meaning to redecorate Miss B's room ever since she moved into a bed. It is still decorated in nursery colours, So i made a start by revamping this photo board using the first project......

Hi Just a quick post to let you know i will be offline for 4 days while we pack up the tent and head to Warwick for a few days of bush camping. We're in for a few days of camp beds, open fires, motorbiking (the boys), fishing and hopefully being able to bury my head in a good book (well fingers crossed anyway!).

This week has been busy but ill have lots to share when i get back!
The shop will be closed until Tuesday too..

i really cant help myself when it comes to gorgeous fabric and a sale! i told myself that i wouldn't buy any more fabric until i had used this big stash of yummy fabrics

but alas i was browsing etsy last week and came across the Fabric Closet having a moving sale and had all fabric on sale....

and these happen to jump into my shopping basket....

WHOOPS.....(but secretly i LOVE it!)

maybe i should spent more time sewing and less time browsing haha!

Birthday celebrations...

Well Little miss and i headed up to Handmade Heaven today, both to drop off some stock and have a poke around the shop. Liesa went all out and the place looked GREAT - balloons and facepainting, cupcakes and the shop jam-packed with handmade loveliness. Little Miss of course went straight for the balloons and kept changing her mind on what colour balloon she wanted - pink, no brown, no PINK! (we finally settled on pink - no suprises!) she got her face painted 'like a princess' while mummy got 5 minutes of peaceful browsing without making sure she wasn't pulling 'all the pretties' off the shelves at her height!

i recently set myself up a little space downstairs and although it is wonderful and a great work space, it is lacking in a little creative look. So i just couldn't help myself when i saw this wall hanging made by Lilly Cottage. Perfect for the bare wall in the studio - LOVE IT!

Now im off i have a date with my recliner, a hot cuppa and our flat screen to watch the Maroons make it 5 straight series against the blues!

Well i have been spoilt this week in celebration of my birthday

i received these lovely goodies from my friends and family....

i have wanted a bread maker for a while now and thanks to my ever s0 practical hubby i now have one of my own! As a kid my mum always used to make her own bread and i used to love waking up in the morning to the delicious smell of a hot loaf of bread on the table! so i've been cooking up a storm this week - Mr JK keeps coming home to loaves of EVERYWHERE.

i also got these...

i was banned from the kitchen for the night while Mr JK cooked me a fabulous dinner and a BIG chocolate cake YUM!

But what i am most excited about is still coming in the post and i just cant wait for it to arrive.....

Now i don't own any sewing books (i'd love some recommendations?), so i am excited to get me hands on this one! I can't wait to get sewing and share some of these projects! It looks so delicious, so excited!

Flea Market Finds...

I decided to play along with flea market finds this week over at Sophie @ her library adventures. I usually am a spectator, visiting all the entrants to oooooh and ahhhhh over their finds but this week i have decided to play along.

I must admit, i've always enjoyed op shopping but only since i started seriously crafting did i find a real thrill in it. It really can be quite addictive! scouring op-shops for that those hidden treasures to make all sorts of crafty goodies with! And the things that i buy rarely end up the way they started. I am fortunate to have several op-shops within 10 mins drive which is great.

so these are my flea market finds for this week.....

a pair of vintage purses - 1 found at a garge sale for 50c and the other for $2 in the op shop. The black one is in great condition with luxurious velvet. The white one has a few stains so im thinking i might replace the material part of it with a vintage lace or something?

Some vintage sheets and embroidered linen...

This sweet doiley tablecloth caught my eye in the op shop i just had to have it for only $5....

Reflections....

This week has been one of fond reflection for me, as i completed a heap of wedding invitations for a very dear friend of mine. i was so excited earlier this year when i heard that my oldest and very close friend of mine was engaged! We met in kindy when we were 4 years old and she has been one of my best friends ever since.

I think its a rare friendship that spans so many years, where you have so many shared experiences, been through so much, have so many fond memories, when you know someone so well that there is nothing you can't talk to them about, that is something really truly special. Once in a lifetime i think we are touched by truly unique friendships and that is something to be truly thankful for. Here's to girlfriends, i don't think we could get through life without them!

Anyway, i digress.....

well we finally have our computer back after a 10 day stay at the computer doctor! So im back on a trouble free computer and able to post and visit all my favorite blogs again! i think i had some withdrawals for a while there. So im back in blog land and have heaps to share over the next few days..

Handmade bags...

A few weeks a go a shared a gorgeously delicious looking picture of my new fabric stash i received in the mail. Since then orders have been flooding in and i haven't had a chance to even look in the direction of my material box!

Im sure many of you would find this, and its funny because i spend a lot of time sewing various projects/filling orders, though i don't often take the time to sit and make anything for myself. So the other day i decided to change this, and as i was in desperate need of a new handbag, i made my first project with that fabulous material!

so with the help of a fabulous pattern from the talented Made by Rae with a few alterations, this was the result...
